BLEVIN BLECTUM
http://www.blevinblectum.com/

Blevin Blectum is an electronic music / multimedia composer, performer, and sound designer residing with avian animals in Seattle WA. Incorporating elements of text, video, acoustic and electronic instruments, her multimedia work is centered around a scored musical core, and inspired by the imagined realms of radio plays and speculated science fictions. Working solo and in collaboration she has released dozens of critically acclaimed recordings since 1998. As the duo Blectum from Blechdom, with long-time collaborator Kristin Grace Erickson, she received the Digital Music Award of Distinction at the Prix Ars Electronica 2001 in Linz, Austria. She is a recent co-founder of the Traveling Bubble Ensemble, with co-composer and violist Michael Kelley, violinist Elise Kuder, and performer/builder Marjorie Gere. Blevin's work has been featured and reviewed in publications including Wire magazine (UK), Neural, Pitchfork, Time Out (New York and London), Signal to Noise, Art Forum, Blow Up (Italy), Vogue (Italy), and Rolling Stone.

THE POWERS

The Powers is the collaborative project of Katherine Kline, Emily Pelstring and Jessica Mensch.

Drawing inspiration from mythological archetypes, particularly trinities of sisters such as the Graeae, the Gorgons and the Fates, the Powers create a feminist pantheon of their own. The angry ghosts of our maternal lineages are conjured in a live, participatory ritual, where power is redistributed and the classical "hero's journey" is redefined.

RENE HELL is the synthesizer-based project of Jeff Witscher, a visual artist, avid chess player, and music obsessive, who has explored a variety of underground styles since his teens. His aesthetic choices, expressed over dozens of recordings released under many pseudonyms, have anticipated the shifts in U.S. experimental music spanning the last decade. Most recently, he received acclaim for synth albums Porcelain Opera and The Terminal Symphony (Type), a 2012 split release with Oneohtrix Point Never, and his newest recording, Vanilla Call Option (PAN). Witscher’s practice is peripatetic —- encompassing roving styles, changing monikers and wide-ranging influences. Travel is central to Vanilla Call Option, with its digital palette constructed on the move between airports, performance spaces, and public libraries, to evoke the musique concrète of Bernard Parmegiani and the computer music of Charles Dodge. He is currently based in Western Massachusetts.
and with
HOWARD STELZER has been composing music out of cassette tapes since 1997. He ran the Intransitive Recordings label until 2012. When he’s not hunched over dusty tape machines, Stelzer teaches middle school math and science in Lowell, MA. He has recent releases on Phage Tapes, Obsolete Units, Dokuro, Copy For Your Records, Banned Productions, and Noise Below. A forthcoming album, The Case Against CD is due out shortly on Monotype.

FRED RAPID (Electronic/DE)
Nickel-plated snares cut through the tune's gelatinous nebula in halftime, polite synth sequences flutter into the murk, and bubbles of sub-frequencies swell under the oily surface, unable to burst the thick ooze. Underneath those palpable sounds is a wellspring of metaphysical resonance you could trace back to more than a few sources, but playing connect the dots would betray the track's significance. Vocal samples get pitched and sliced until they resemble extraterrestrial chatter, while the music around it pops and revs up,
disparate sounds smacking one another. Fred Rapid corrals them into a piece of music that never devolves into a mess, but manages the chaos as it bubbles with overwhelming feeling.
