THE POWERS
A collaborative brainchild of Katherine Kline and Emily Pelstring, The Powers integrates video, dance, costumes and experimental electronic music. The Powers’ performances move through feelings of resistance and violence and generally end with transcendental release in the form of a participatory Psychic Baptism. In addition to distorted screams and other vocals, audio from New Age self-help cassette tapes provides a guided meditation and directives on how to achieve power. Their current show takes the audience on a journey through a metaphorical messy space in which two lady detectives seek answers from the ghosts in the machines.
